Great Expectations: Chapter 7 Summary

Pip goes to school. Pip meets Biddy. She runs a store. A few nights later, Pip writes a letter to Joe. Joe explains that his father was an alcoholic and beat his mother often. Joe was forced to work as a little boy to support his dad’s drinking habit, and, thus, never had time for school. Joe insists he wants to adopt Pip. He goes and does chores while he gets kicked out.

 

Great Expectations: Chapter 5 Summary

As pip runs towards the door, the soldiers want Joe to fix their handcuffs. Pip climbs on Joe’s back and they head out to the marshes. Suddenly, Pip starts getting worried of his convict as he didn’t want anything to happen to him. Pip finds his convict fighting another convict and his convict recognises Pip. He tells them that he took the pies. The convicts are then taken away.

Within both articles the views differ very much and their views and experiences change very much depending on each persons view and the writers biased opinion. When they describe a story the difference between the two can differ greatly depending on the perspective of the story.

Great Expectations: Chapter 4 Summary

Pip returns home. Afraid of anyone finding out of his suspicious behaviour, he sits down. He attends church with Joe, while excluding Mrs Joe as she goes to church vicariously. Everyone is getting ready for Christmas dinner. Pip accidentally fills the brandy with tar water. Mr Pumblechook launches into a coughing fit after having tried the brandy. Everyone is confused of the tar water in the brandy. After his sister cuts into the pork pie, Pip cant take it any more and runs for the door. He ends up running into party soldiers at the doorstep.

Great Expections: Chapter 3 Summary

Within Volume 1 Chapter 3 Pip starts the story by going back to the mysterious man to give him the wittles. He is sleeping so Pip pokes him. Pip mistaken’s him for the convict he saw earlier. He finds the convict beat up but appreciative of the food. The convict is afraid after hearing of another convict. He flees the scene.

Great Expectations: Chapter 1 & 2 Summary

Pip meets a suspicious man in leg irons, by the side of the river. The man informs Pip his young apprentice, wants to cut him open. He expresses that he wants “wittles” and a file. Pip gets scared and turns submissive. They arrange to meet the next day. Pip goes home and has dinner with his sister. He steals the bread and slips it down his trouser leg. The following morning he creeps into the kitchen and steals more food. He then goes into his brother in laws forge and steals a file. Afterwards, he runs into the marshes to meet the convict.

The article in which describes how Tory MP, James Cleverely, reveals he smoked marijuana and watched inappropriate content on the internet. Within the Telegraph, he is described very highly and a biased report is given to us. This is evident when the Telegraph uses many quotations of his speech almost as if he is proud of what he done.
