Quotation Paragraph

“I was always treated as if I had insisted on being born in opposition to the dictates of reason, religion, and morality, and against the arguments of my best friends.” Pip says this as he is angry  with his upbringing. It shows great significance as it sets Pips mindset through half of the story until he gains more confidence. This sums up Pips emotions about himself after he had his heart broken by Estella. It shows us a sense of guilt  and that in Pips mind, the world despises of his existence. He could also have gained this mindset from being treated poorly by someone.

Great Expectations Ironic Situations Analysis

One significant ironic situation is when Miss Havisham teaches Estella to not love anyone in the beginning of the book although afterwards in chapter 44, Estella tells Miss Havisham that she doesn’t love her anymore which goes against anything that she taught her because she also taught Estella that the only person she should love is her, and that she should break all men’s hearts. This is an ironic situation which shows that they’re are unintentionally being ironic. This isn’t an ironic sentence but an ironic situation when looking at the whole book.

We can infer from the text and the many language features that Jagger’s was not a nice man. He does not treat his servant well and this is shown in her expression when Jagger’s is describing her.

This is even more evident when Jagger’s exposes her wrists to everyone forcefully. This shows the abuse physically and mentally that is performed towards his servant.
